Webcam problems?

I bought a new webcam today its a trust WB-1400T, I followed the instructions, put the disk in got to software uploaded and that, restarted my computer and put in the cam, it says there was a new device when it is put in port but its not working when I try to use it it says that there is was not video caption hardware? Anyone got any idea's I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it but never worked and have tried restarting the computer many times, my laptop isn't bran new but it has windows xp on it and has lots of memory, any ideas would be great thanks
